Procedures:

Power up the DiCE unit by connecting 12 V DC to the AD input on the DiCE unit, se picture to the right. Use a cable with part number 9513004 connected to the vehicle battery.

Remove the cover of the DiCE unit by turning the screw on the cover.

Connect the short USB cable to the DiCE unit. This cable is included in the DiCE Pilot Kit.

Connect the USB cable to a free USB port in the computer.

Note:Pull out the bluetooth adapter cable temporarily if there is only one USB port in the computer

The window shown in the picture opens automatically in Windows.

NOTE! This might take several minutes.

Choose “Install the software automatically”.

Click on NEXT.

Finish the DiCE installation of USB driver.

Click on FINISH. The installation of the USB driver for this DiCE unit is completed.

Setek Ab Dice Driver

The Glue is a VST (virtual studio technology) plug-in. It can be used with audio editing apps that support VST hosts to, among other things, even out the volume of a music file. I learned that this app works nicely to increase volume on some parts of an audio clip without making parts that were already loud considerably louder. In other words, the plug-in figures out which parts to edit.

The graphical user interface boasts a classic look which resembles an audio edition board. There is a compression meter, and 8 knobs, along with three buttons. Each knob has different positions and you can move those around by clicking and dragging with your mouse. The knobs control the threshold, range, makeup, attack, ratio, release, mix and HP. Carefully adjusting the knobs will let you attain a variety of effects.

I used this plug-in with Audacity. It was easier to install in version 1.3, and it can be accessed from the 'Effects' menu. The compressor module did a good job of making parts of the sample audio clip I used louder, but it didn't make the already loud parts noticeably louder. You can see the difference in volume after you apply the effects on Audacity. Of all the knobs, the one that had the most noticeable effect was 'Makeup'. Moving it slightly up from 0 really distorts the sound. There is a button that activates the Peakclip, but didn't notice any considerable differences when Peakclip was activated.

In short, The Glue seems to be a good compressor and it is relatively easy to use. It is not a tool for every-day people, but audiophiles will sure appreciate it.
